Deaf Ex-Mainstreamers Group Statement during the Covid-19 pandemic

We have received funding from the NHS to continue to support the DEX Deaf Youth Council and other youth groups, using technology so they are not isolated at home.

We will continue to post government and NHS information and updates on the current Coronavirus world-wide outbreak to our members.

Staff are working from home so there will be a limited service.

• Please stay at home whenever you can
• Only go outside if you cannot work from home or to go for essential food. medication and exercise
• Stay at least 2 metres apart if outside the home
• Wash hands regularly for 20 seconds.

Please do stay at home safely to look after yourself and look after others and all the workers caring for you.

Deaf Ex-Mainstreamers’ Group (DEXperience)

We are an entirely deaf-led organisation that exists to raise awareness of the daily struggle that deaf children have in mainstream education.

Every deaf child’s wellbeing matters to us and to you!

DEX uses the English dictionary definition of the word “deaf” to mean “wholly or partially without hearing” to apply to all children who have hearing loss.

DEXperience welcomes everybody, whatever education experience you have. We have adopted ‘DEXperience’ to show that we are inclusive of all.

We are a deaf-led organisation that was set up to support deaf people who are being educated in mainstream education, or who attended mainstream schools. Deaf people who attended Deaf schools want to support this campaign too.
