Who are DEX?

Mission Statement: DEX’s vision is to be the deaf-led organisation that:

  • Promotes and encourages the experience and education of deaf children in order to thrive
  • Protects sign language and the deaf community.

Our History

DEX (Deaf EXperience) is a friendly, Yorkshire-based charity that’s been supporting deaf young people since 1994.

We’re here to enable deaf young people to connect, build confidence, and celebrate their identity. We have different projects running which young people between 11-30 can come along and join in. They offer fun safe spaces to meet others, share experiences and be themselves.

We also work with professionals, organisations, businesses and companies to improve access, understanding, equality and awareness. We offer:

  • Free outreach sessions for schools/colleges/organisations to inform about DEX

  • Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language training Packages

  • Consultancy to help make services more deaf-friendly

Whether you’re a young person, parent, or professional—we’re here to help.
