Louise Thomas
Operations Manager
Louise has been working with DEX for over a year now and oversees the running of DEX. With the support of staff, young people and Trustees she sources funding and oversee projects.
Louise has worked with children and young people for over 30 years and with deaf young people for over 10 years. She has worked in social care, childcare, youth work, education and management.
Her favorite part of her role is seeing young people enjoying themselves and having fun with their deaf friends without barriers.
Leah Jackson
Urban Crime Safety Coordinator
Leah is our newest member to the team, only being with us since May this year. However she has been a member with DEX for a long time before this. Leah runs the Urban Crime Safety project as well as supporting Zara with Events. She is also a whiz with graphics and technology.
Before coming to DEX to work, Leah was studying at university and setting up her own photography business. Being deaf and a BSL user she has years of lived experience which she can fall upon when working with the young people. she is a great role model for the young people she works with.
Zara Emery
Youth Worker Co-ordinator
Zara is our longest member of the team and has been involved in many different roles over the years. She runs the DDYC/DDYH events as well as advocacy support for young people.
Like Leah, Zara was also a member with DEX before coming to work with us. Her knowledge and experience are vast and she is a great role model to the young people she works with. Zara is deaf and BSL is her first language.
She has qualifications in youthwork and advocacy.
